Cork 57 is, in my estimation, another of Bethesda’s gems.  Fred, the owner, is my advisor on wine and beer and is known to all who know me as my “Wine and Beer GURU.”  Not only does he know his wines and beers, he has the knowledge akin to a fine dining Sommelier and is my go-to advisor for food and wine pairings.  He is so on spot, he’s never...i repeat NEVER...been wrong.  At least not for me.  I love that i can walk in and share my upcoming saturday night dinner menu and Fred then suggests the best wine for each course.  

If you are looking for a convenient, friendly, competent, well stocked wine and beer establishment in Bethesda, CORK 57 should definitely be your choice.  If, in addition, your seeking a consultant that knows more than your average wine and beer store proprietor, then Fred at Cork 57 is your guy.

These guys are so knowledgeable and helpful. They have made great recommendations for me both for gifts and for myself, and have never steered me wrong.

The selection of wine and beer is broad in the store and they are helpful and happy to take any orders if they don't have what you want in the store.  The staff are knowledgeable about the wines and can help you choose a new one for your taste or occasion.  I've always been satisfied with any wine I just wander in and pick up without paying too much attention, meaning I don't think there's a bad wine in the house.
