Our Story



The Cornerstone Café was purchased on May 13, 2008 and is a family-run establishment. Owner and proprietor Viki Overbay works alongside her husband, Mark, and son, Chef Dustin Mattox and Viki’s daughter-in-law Michelle. Located in a historic building in downtown Rainier, guests can not only enjoy excellent cuisine in an uplifting and positive atmosphere, but incredible views of the Columbia River as well. The staff at the Cornerstone takes pride in using only the freshest local ingredients, products, and services. Only fresh and local produce is used to make the daily soups, homemade salad dressings, salsa, and tarter sauce (which guest’s swear is the best tarter sauce anywhere). The staff’s goal is ensure every guest has prompt, courteous service (with a smile) and that they consistently receive a delicious home-cooked meal each and every time they set foot through the door. Perhaps the best quality the Cornerstone offers is the sense of family both guests and staff share. When you dine at “the Stone”, you instantly become part of the family. This is seen in the courteous way guests and staff are treated, in the consistent and excellent service each guest experiences and with the care and dedication that every meal is cooked and served with.
