Story

The Cosmosphere International SciEd Center & Space Museum includes a collection of U.S. space artifacts second only to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, and the largest collection of Russian space artifacts outside of Moscow. This unique collection allows the Cosmosphere to tell the story of the Space Race better than any museum in the world while offering fully immersive education experiences that meet the Next Generation Science Standards and introduce students to the power of wondering—asking the critical questions that lead to discovery. The Cosmosphere also features the Carey Digital Dome Theater offering documentary showings daily and recently-released feature films on weekends; the newly renovated Justice Planetarium and Dr. Goddard’s Lab, where visitors experience live science demonstrations daily.

World class space museum in a tiny town to mins from Wichita. This place initially seemed overpriced when looking at prices and times online when we first moved to Wichita, but we thought what the heck, we'll give it a try anyway... We are SO glad we did! This is an amazing museum full of so much information and SO MANY incredible artifacts! Anyone who visits is taken to the Cosmosphere and typically hesitant but then absolutely blown away! P.S. If you only add one thing to your admission ticket, add Goddard's lab, it's a blast!

I can't believe we stumbled upon such an amazing place! We were doing a cross country road trip and I wanted to see an SR-71. That is how we found the Cosmosphere, but it is so much more! The museum is so well done, the story of the space program from all sides is so well told. From Hitler in the V-1 and V-2 Rockets, through the cold war, and the space race, right up to modern day. This museum is amazing and I highly encourage you to spend at least 3-5 hours exploring, it is well worth it.

This is truly a gem unearthed in the flint hills of Kansas! This Smithonian quality museum experience is second to none. More people need to take the time to drive to Hutchinson to learn about mankind’s journey into space and to the moon!

Came here on a recommedation while on a business trip. As an avid space enthuist was surprised to see such a large collection in the heart of America. Words can't describe everything that they have. The history housed within this building is incredible. Worth the trip and great to people of all ages.
