This page is to keep our citizens up to date with the hard work and dedication of the members of the Council Bluffs Fire Department. CBFD responds to over 8000 emergency calls every year. Just over 80% of those calls are medical in nature. Our cardiac save rate for 2014 was 44%. The national average is between 8-10%. We fight on average around 70 structure fires a year. The remainder of the annual calls are made up of technical rescues, HazMat, Ice Rescue, Water Rescue, High Angle and Confined Space Rescues. We have a regional hazmat team that responds to eight counties in southwest Iowa and are also one of three WMD Hazmat teams across the state. Our goal is to provide the people we serve with the most professional care possible in all types of emergency responses. We truly appreciate all the support we get from our community.
