About

Local Cafe, serving home made from scratch food. Real 'from scratch'! We also specialize in Jams, Jellies, Salsa, Sauces and anything you can put in a jar!

Story

In 2011, we found ourselves looking for a place to sell the excess produce from our garden. During our search, we came upon the Marion Open Air Market. This was different from your typical farmers market. MOAM has not only growers, but includes many talented Artisans. This market requires that all products be grown or produced in the local area. It was with this new market family that Rachel began to grow her passion for producing in the home kitchen. She began our endeavor in Jams and Jellies with a few flavors that she had been making for some time. Soon, as her creativity began to unfold, Rachel began experimenting with additional fruits, extracts and oils. Breads started to get baked, Bagels were made and sold for Saturday morning breakfast, and we began to have customers seek us out for the latest flavors and freshest breads.

We are different than your typical Jam or Jelly makers. We do offer a few traditional recipes, but most of our offerings are far from traditional. We believe in making products with ingredients that can be pronounced by the average person. We grow much of our own produce. We look for produce we don't grow from local growers as much as possible, so we can shake their hand, and ask questions about their growing practices. We believe that for us to provide you with the best product, we must begin with the best ingredients. Any dollars we can put back into our local businesses the better. We are firm believers in locals supporting locals!

We opened the Country Cafe & Bakery, downtown in Marion Indiana, October of 2015. This has been a dream ever since Rachel was a little girl. Rachel and her mother Terri always talked about opening a shop somewhere, enjoying spending time with customers and getting to cook and bake full time. Terri Reynolds joined us early in the year on this new endeavor and it has been a fun and exciting experience. Using the same philosophy as we do in our Jams and Jellies, we make every single item by hand and from scratch. You wont find any prepackaged, frozen or boxed meals in our shop. The best food is made from raw simple ingredients, with love and cooked to perfection!

We hope that you have found this site from the label on one of our products, or by shaking our hands and following the link posted on our business card. From our family, we appreciate the opportunity to serve you, and we appreciate your business.

God Bless,

Eric, Rachel and Terri

We have loved going to Country Cafe ever since they opened! Friendliest folks and delicious food. Breakfast here is my favorite. They grill the French toast on their homemade bread (it's amazing on the cinnamon raisin!) and even make their own sausage. Eggs are fresh from their own chickens (I also buy my eggs here by the dozen). They are so kind to my little sons when I come in with them, which means a lot. So great to have such a quality establishment like this in downtown Marion!

My first time visiting, plan to return. I tried the Lumberjack Bowl, fried potatoes and peppers, onions topped with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and cheddar cheese. Yum! This is a good local owned breakfast and lunch spot along the Missawana river at the edge of downtown. They have a good size breakfast and lunch menu, and check out the back for their grilled cheese sandwich menu, they sound like really good sandwiches, $4-$7 with most of them at $5. Well worth checking out for an unhurried breakfast or lunch.

Good homestyle food, great prices. The service is slightly slow, but it felt relaxed, not neglectful. My family will be back.

Quaint little restaurant in downtown Marion right on the river. I had the adult grilled cheese and baked potato salad. Absolutely delicious! Friendly fast service. They also have an array of homemade jams & jelly's and delicious baked goods. Awesome job Country Cafe!
