Very nice Mexican restaurant hidden near Royal Street. Not our first choice, but we ended up here with no wait. A nice sit down and order type of restaurant. Salsa and chips before we ordered. Abita Amber bottle and a margarita blended were very good. Only three beers on tap. Chicken nachos, Shrimp fajitas and fried Yuca pictured. Not the best ever, but very good. Prices are higher than some, but in line with the French Quarter prices elsewhere.
I don't know how I have missed this place until now, but so very glad we dropped in last Friday. Margaritas were good and service was great. My tamales were different, but great. I look forward to returning soon. Did I mention....best rice ever!Food: 5/5
We waited for 20 mins after order and the server came back and said they were out of shrimp, calamari, and pork rib. We made another order and waited over 40 mins. Either they are short staff or the cook was slow. Avoid this restaurant. The wait is not worth it.
This amazing restaurant, tucked away next to the Wyndham hotel at the edge of New Orleans' French Quarter, is an absolute gem. The food is of a Mexican/Cuban/Central American variety and the decor is really nice. The staff are very friendly and the food is superb. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the dishes served. Highly recommend.
To be honest, had I read the previous reviews before stopping here, I likely wouldn't have. But I'm glad that I didn't. We actually had another dinner spot in mind, but because we were later than planned on a Friday evening in the Quarter, it was busier than what we wanted to wait for, so we saw that Country Flame didn't have a wait, and decided to give it a try. We were very fortunate, because our service, margaritas, and food Honduran enchiladas and ceviche, were all great. Hopefully, we didn't just get lucky, because I'm looking forward to trying additional things from their menu, and hope to receive the same positive experience next time!
I wish could rate the food but I never got it! I ordered online. When I arrived about 15 mins after ordering my food wasn’t ready. I waited an additional 25 mins and still no food. People were walking in and leaving with their orders but not mine. I ask and got a generic answer that’s it’s almost ready. Ended leaving with no food since lunch break was over. Poor service and organization. Restaurant looked unorganized. Only 1 table was there that arrived after me and had their appetizers. Overall service was horrible so I won’t never go to this place again.
The food was delicious but the service was atrocious. We watched a lot of patons walk out due to the lack of service. We were about to leave until the bartender noticed and stepped up to help the staff by taking our order. We started with their free chips and their rendition of salsa. My wife had the civeche and I had a Cuban Sandwich. We ordered one shrimp and one catfish po boys to go for our daughters. They also enjoyed their meals later at the hotel.
We both had the special for the day which was three enchiladas - one of each - cheese, shredded chicken, and shredded beef. The beef was brisket and I wish I had three of those. The chicken and cheese were good but the beef was outstanding. The rice was ok but not very flavorful. We also ordered queso which was a Blanco queso and very tasty. Chips and salsa were offered when seated. Chips were warm and the salsa was tasty too.
Slow service. Food was edible but that’s about it. Uncomfortable chairs. Overall nothing good about this experience.
This spot is an American Tex mex style place with a vibrant atmosphere and a full bar. The food was tasty and well cooked with some authentic flavor especially in their salsa verde. Their ropa Borja was lacking sauce but it was well done nevertheless. The drinks were a little weak but they were also good. I recommend this spot for anyone wanting a Tex mex meal.
