This is a regular stop for us when we travel from Colorado to Texas. The very first time we found them, their burgers were bigger. However, even the size they are now is quite adequate. And, unlike most burger joints that only give you one or two pickles to cover a burger, they give you six to eight pickles per Burger. Plenty of tomato and onion to cover your burger as well. I honestly have to admit I don't know what Texas Health codes are, so I am surprised they would pass. Maybe they are truly cleaner than they look. The building is not much to look at, but that is a little bit of their charm. This place looks like a bit of a dive, but it is a tasty dive. Well worth the stop.

Stopped here with my dad last year on the drive back from college and was pleasantly surprised! It's a pretty small place and doesn't look like much from the outside but they know how to make a dang good burger! Juicy but not too greasy and enough to fill you up and then some. Service was fast and everything was very reasonably priced. My dad shares this place with all his friends and asks to stop here anytime we're driving together! Also if you're busy and don't have time to stay they take call ahead orders to go!

Okay, I based my trip here on the positive reviews. The reviews are well founded. My second indication that this was an establishment of renown was the dilapidated appearance of the building: a typical hole-in-the-wall joint with a parking lot full of cars. As you approach the entrance, you are greeted by a weathered plank decking and a boarded up front door. Stepping inside is reminiscent of a setting from days gone by, say a mercantile store, what with the wooden floors and barely enough elbow room to get through. Now here goes the food. I had the Old Fashioned Burger with bacon and a side of chili fries. The portions are fit for a lumberjack! The beef patty was at least half a pound and fresh ground. The fries were thin cut with the skins still on them, and the chili tasted homemade, although I don't know if it was. My beverage of choice was ice tea with lemon, and that was perfect, too. Moving on to customer service, Amy was our waitress and was very observant to attend to us. Considering that most of the tables were occupied, the wait time was better than average - not what I would have expected for a "custom" burger. It would have been worth a longer wait! Long story short, I would rate them 10 stars because 5 stars doesn't suffice.

The food was good, not the absolute best though. This place is seriously tiny. Words can't explain. Cash only but I knew that going in. Price wasn't too bad, average cafe prices. Service was excellent though. She brought back a fresh cup of tea and I didn't even know she took the old one.

The California hamburger was loaded and good, but the fries were soggy, maybe I showed up too close to closing? The place is quaint and cozy. And I could easily see myself hanging out here.
