Thanks to a TikTok recommendation from Emily Mariló, my journey led me to discover a hidden gem of a bakery that exceeded all expectations. Nestled in San Francisco , this bakery is a haven for pastry enthusiasts, offering a delightful array of treats to tantalize the taste buds. The star of the show was undoubtedly the Rebel within -Lorraine muffin, as showcased by Emily Mariló herself. Its fluffy exterior concealed a delightful surprise: a filling of perfectly cooked hard-boiled egg runny yolkinside . Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with the savory egg complementing the moistness of the muffin. It was the ideal fuel for our morning hike at Hawk Hills, providing sustenance and satisfaction in equal measure. But the delights didn't stop there. We also indulged in a chocolate-drizzled croissant that was nothing short of heavenly. With its buttery layers and decadent chocolate topping, it was a true testament to the bakery's commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Overall, our experience at this bakery was nothing short of exceptional. From the delectable pastries to the warm and inviting atmosphere, it's clear that this establishment takes pride in delivering a memorable culinary experience to its patrons. Thanks to Emily Mariló's recommendation, we discovered a new favorite spot that we'll surely be returning to again and again.
Unique interesting pastries. The Rebel Within is a muffin with an egg inside is very good. Parking was no problem on a side street. Lots of seating.Food: 5/5
Great coffee and very intricate baked goods. Edit: had several of the cakes and really enjoyed the tea cube.Food: 5/5
The rebel within pastry was the main attraction for us and it tasted good. Latte was good too - I'm very particular my latte and I liked it here. We also tried a bread pudding and a chocolate croissant - all tasted good and fresh.
I'm sure I'm far from the first person to get lured into trying this place because of that heavenly looking "rebel within" pastry. It had a rich, fluffy cheddar biscuit consistency, and the molten egg definitely elevates it; I'd happily eat again, and usijg my imagination, it probably wouldn't be as good if you get it to-go. Apart from that, there were several other amazing-looking baked goods and a drink menu that could stand up to a coffee shop. My basic oat milk latte was coffee shop quality. The banana coconut bread was super moist and had a nice crunch from coconut. Servers are super nice/cool, too. It's a good-sized place with sitting room inside I don't think there's WiFi, but it's not a bad place to spend a morning!
Nestled on Valencia Street, this charming cafe is a delightful discovery. While their small kitchen means no custom orders, the cozy ambiance and overall charm more than make up for it. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a pastry and soak in the atmosphere of Valencia Street.
Staff are great, very patient with my indecisiveness. I hope they are well compensated. Unfortunately the food is a let down- it’s only redeeming feature is looks. The rebel muffin is a cool idea but ALWAYS raw in the center & has a bitter taste like cheap cornbread. The pastries are stale and bland. The tea / coffee are acceptable but can be sickly sweet, watered down.
Emily Mariko may have inspired me to come try this place out. I came for my birthday breakfast : And I wasn’t disappointed. Of course I tried the “Rebel Within” and the morning bun. They were both delicious. The rebel within was much more filling than I expected. I was surprisingly stuffed after eating just a half! If I go back it’ll definitely be for the morning bun. It’s the best I’ll probably ever have.
Great selection of savory and sweet pastries. Their savory pastries are one of the best in SF. Go try a rebel.Food: 5/5
Tried 3 menu items. I highly recommend the “mistress truffle croissant stack”. Wow, flavorful and the soft cooked egg in the middle. The chocolate croissant was good but suggest heating it. They are known for “the Rebel Within” see photo but I found it a bit bland and the dough in center was not fully cooked. I’ll skip it next time.
