Story

What is Crocodile Encounter? Crocodile Encounter is a fully licensed and insured USDA zoological facility whose primary focus is science and wildlife education. A visit to Houston's only reptile zoo enables each visitor to experience wildlife in a safe, exciting, and educational fashion. You will see crocodiles and alligators swimming and sunning before your knowledgeable and lively guides bring the animals directly to you for a feeding demonstration. Crocodile Encounter has the largest group of crocodiles on display in the state of Texas. We are the premier crocodilian facility in the state and widely regarded in the zoological world as a standard bearer in the care of captive crocodilians. The animal ambassadors that live at our location are some of the most storied, legendary, and unfortunately endangered animals on the planet. It is our mission to further educate the public on these vital keystone species and the impact they have on the human world. In addition to crocodiles many other animal species call Crocodile Encounter home. Our facility is home to numerous species of snakes, lizards, and turtles and a representative faction of mammals.

This place was so much fun and offers a lot of exciting experiences for kids and adults. We participated in the feeding tour that allowed for some pretty up close encounters with alligators and crocodiles of varying sizes—some were huge. Gators and crocs are not the only critters at this zoo. Come prepared to see tortoises, pigs, lemurs, kangaroos, and more. We purchased a bag of carrots for $5 to feed the tortoises which was a lot of fun. We really enjoyed this low key zoo and would recommend it.

Very much worth the drive down to Angleton, in particular with children, but also a great experience for adults. Our tour was about 90 min, and fun as well as educational. Both guides did a great job! Bring your own Romaine lettuce and carrots to feed the animals. Highly recommended!

Went here with my 1st graders field trip. I was early so parking was easy, most people ended up parking on the street (not a big deal). Staff was friendly, kids had fun and learned a lot. I mildly enjoyed it. We were there first thing in the morning so the alligators and crocodiles were not as active, later in the morning or earlier on a warmer day they'd be more active. We bought some food to feed to the alligators, worth it for the few dollars which it cost.

We took our grandsons and they enjoyed it. We purchased the food for the animals and they feed the tortoises and alligators, which they enjoyed. I had called to see if the facility was handicap accessible and they said yes, with a few rough spots. Unless you have a motorized scooter or husky person to push do not plan to take a wheel chair. Some places are dirt and gravel and the rest is planks, some having spaces between where your wheels will get hung up. Paths are almost too narrow for the chair. Along the paths there are steps so you have to back track and it is very hard to turn a wheel chair around in the narrow space. Otherwise the place and employees are great.

Great place! My husband and I visited in July on a weekend getaway , we had a great time feeding the turtles and watching the crocodile feed. We will definitely be back soon, this time with our children.
