THIS PLACE IS A JOKE !!! RUN FAR FAR AWAY !!!!! I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A BIG FAT ZERO SCORE !!!! My in-law was there for a little over 3 months and ended up under long term care. Every time we visited, just walking down the hallway was horrible. The smell of urine was so strong at times it would gag you. They would leave patients in the hallway unattended & "yelling" for someone to take them to the restroom or just to attend to what they needed. We also observed the patients call lights flashing next to the doors but nobody around was responding, the nurses just looked at them & kept walking by the room. There were times the call button would not work in my in-law's room, good thing they had a working phone to call a family member to call the front desk just to be forwarded to an unattended nurse's station. Really? Sometimes it would two or three tries to get someone to answer at the nurse's station. When the call lights did work, you wonder why the nurses were not responding to the call lights. Come to find out the nurses stations were left unattended for long periods of time. I have sat in view of one station & NOBODY attended it for an hour! Seriously? Is this place understaffed? Does anyone even care about their jobs? It makes me wonder. DO NOT believe their website or the government ratings. Some how or another, they have manipulated the "system" so they will not lose their free government money. Speaking of money, they will, along with the government, steal your money. If the person is needing long term care & they are collecting Social Security, they will take ALL but about $80 to pay for that person's care. The worse part about it is that if that person the care stops in the middle of the payment period, you will get NOTHING but the big shaft where the sun don't shine, not even a prorated period of time. Read their contract(s) extremely careful, or get a lawyer if you have to. My recommendation is to find another place to send your loved one to get the proper treatment the require. I would not trust this place to care for a sick pet let alone a human.

This is our second experience with Crofton. My dad was there for rehab a few years ago and when my mom recently had a mild stroke, this was our choice for her rehab stay. In fact, we chose to pay out of pocket for my dad's respite care stay at the center while she was in rehab. While the physical plant may not sparkle like a 5-star hotel (most nursing homes in Maryland are many years old), the important aspects of care stand out. I find the staff to be both knowledgeable and caring. And yes, there are times when you press the call light button and there is a wait before the nurse or assistant arrives. That's not because you're being ignored, but usually because another guest is in need of attention at the same time. My mom and dad have never complained that they were being ignored. And one of those rare finds in a nursing facility or hospital... my folks are impressed with the quality of the meals! During a stressful time in our lives, my wife and I can go home at the end of a visit knowing that our family is being cared for safely and effectively.

My Mother was their for around 2 weeks for rehab. The place was great, nurse's were knowledgably , attentive, and caring. physical therapy people were the best. Food was good, clean rooms, and all friendly staff . My moms been to others in the Annapolis , Baltimore, area and they are terrible . Would highly recommend Crofton Care to anyone.

Always shot staffed, unorganized, rude staff mainly management and administrative team, had enough of the mess, I wouldn't recommend anyone to work there or to get care there.

If I could give negative stars, I would. This facility is, unfortunately, like many others--only interested in admitting elderly residents with Medicare, whether or not they can safely and effectively care for them--because they have a guarantee of 100 days of Medicare payment post hospital stays. My mother was treated inhumanely from the moment she was admitted in April, 2013. The fact that she was already suffering from disorientation from the hospital stay had no impact on how they treated her. For example, insisting on taking her temperature at admissions. She was understandably agitated, having just arrived to this strange place via ambulance. Elderly folk need rehabilitation post hospital stays, so what are families to do? Things went from bad to worse when a GNA (and all of the aides are not providing compassionate or competent care--many are working double shifts at area facilities and the management knows this.) Understaffing is also the name of the game. My mother fell (or was pushed or hit) between the beds in a double room, striking a wheelchair. Why was she not kept safe? Why was the wheelchair there for her to hit? She was incredibly weak. I seriously doubt that she stood up from the lowered bed (their story); she could not walk. I think the aide dropped her or pushed her when she became agitated. This injury caused internal brain bleeding, eye damage, and knocked out her front tooth. She looked when I arrived at the ER as if she had been beaten. Because she has parkinson's related dementia, the brain bleeding caused further neurological damage. Before the admission to Crofton, my mother was living in an assisted living facility, where she was functioning quite well. After this fall/assault at Crofton, she deteriorated tremendously. She is in a nursing home and has little quality of life. I lost my mother at Croton Care and Rehab. It is simply unconscionable what this facility did to my mother and they can do damage because how do you prove neglect in a nursing home with elderly parents? If the law protected the elderly, there would not be so much abuse. But who cares? It's only old people. I will continue to tell everyone I encounter how terrible this facility is. Do not take anyone you love to Crofton Care. And help me change the law so that we can protect our parents from dangerous and unscrupulous facilities. There is very little oversight and even less enforcement. Do not be fooled by those Medicare ratings. The facilities know when they are coming once a year. They prepare the best show, and then they are safe for a year. Don't believe that records aren't fabricated. Whatever facility standards exist, who do you think is monitoring? No one. It is such a travesty. Lives are changed negatively. And families are destroyed.
