Tanya and Jobie are so motivational and knowledgeable. Their classes are tough but they are huge proponents of stretching and warmups and let you push yourself how far you want to go. And they are always helpful when it comes to working around prior injuries, etc.

I've been attending CrossFit Virilis for a couple of years. It has a warm and fun atmosphere. The people are all encouraging and the coaching is the best I've had. Jobie really focuses on form, mobility, and strength. Im the fittest I've ever been thanks to their workouts and nutritional counseling! Jobie and Tanya are the best!!

I absolutely love this place!!!!! My journey at Crossfit Virilis has been life changing. I continue to progress on a daily and I have met some of the most encouraging and wonderful people here. We are like family and continue to grow and welcome new members. Coach Jobim is very tentative and will help you progress at your own pace no matter what level you're at. It doesn't matter if you are a crossfit professional or someone who doesn't even know what crossfit is, there is a place for you and it is a judgement free zone. If you are looking for a great place to workout at, I would encourage you to stop by and talk to Jobim or Tanya, they are nothing but amazing!

Several months ago, I was like a lot of people out there - not happy with my current level of fitness and curious about CrossFit but full of objections: It's too expensive and too fanatical, I'm not strong enough or in good enough shape, I don't know if I even like lifting weights, and what if I get hurt? Just like me, there's probably a reason you're interested in trying something new. I have never been a "gym person" and could not muster up the emotional energy to tolerate moving from machine to machine, doing the same mundane exercises over and over, with minuscule results. I had been wanting to give CrossFit a try for a while, but wasn't quite sure where to start (so many gyms, er, "boxes," funny workout names, and moves I didn't think I could ever do). Coach Jobie and the CFV team were so welcoming and took great time and care to answer all of my questions and ensure I was coached on proper techniques each time a new movement was introduced. They have a great balance of modifying workouts to my skill level while also challenging me to push myself. I also have appreciated and benefited from their focus on nutrition -- something I really did not have a good understanding of before. They have a great athlete community of encouragement, accountability, tips, and even meal/recipe ideas that make it a lot easier to stay on track with healthy eating than going it alone. I completed a Whole 30 this past January and was really encouraged by their Facebook community where we all shared pictures of our "clean" meals - ha! The real testament - I had a goal to get back in shape and lose 20 pounds in 20 weeks, which I achieved, largely in part to the coaching, encouragement and advice I got from the CFV team. CrossFit is a great approach for anyone wanting to focus on their physical health, and Virilis is a wonderful box with people who are as caring as they are knowledgeable. And to respond to my earlier objections, it's not "fanatical;" people like it because it's fun and they are excited about the results they're seeing. Expensive also is relative. Money is more about priorities than affordability. At this point in my life, I'd rather do something for my health than drop a bunch of cash each week at happy hours or late nights at the bar. And really, the box is more like personal training than a gym membership. If you've been thinking of taking the leap to give CrossFit a try (or get back into it), this is a great place to start. If you dedicate yourself, they will help you achieve whatever goals you've set. Thank you Coach Jobes and the CFV gang!!

I have been working out here 3 days a week since January, and love this place. If you are looking for a good trainer Jobim is your guy! My first few sessions I was really frustrated with how out of shape I had become, but he showed a lot of support and gave me the confidence to keep going! Regardless of whether you're an experienced athlete or have little experience with fitness, I would highly recommend this place.
