We provide compassionate and dignified funeral and memorial services. We have a licensed staff of Funeral Directors and Assistants who are passionate about serving the community. We have an on-site crematory which is well maintained and properly licensed.

Story

Croxford Merrill Mortuary was founded in 1929 by Lloyd Croxford and was temporarily operated out of a storefront shop at 307 1st Ave North. Lloyd began construction on an English Tudor style building in September of 1930 and was proud to open the building for business in May of 1931. Lloyd,with his wife, Patti, and their two sons, Gary and Dennis, lived in the funeral home for the first 25 years they were in business. As Gary and Dennis grew up, they became passionate about funeral service, and the name was changed to Croxford & Sons Funeral Home. Lloyd passed away in 1973 and Gary and Dennis became owner-operators. Gary retired in 2003. Dennis continued serving the community as the sole proprietor until his own retirement in 2015. At that time, he sold the business to Drew and Maggie Kent. The Kent family strives to uphold the Croxford's legacy of compassion for each family we serve.

Our family is so grateful to Joe Trainer and Croxford Funeral Home for their excellent, compassionate care as we returned my husband's body to finally rest in Montana. Coming from another state, our first contact was by telephone, and from that first conversation until this very day, there is so much comfort in our sorrow. We are deeply grateful for each beautiful memory, each detail, that we treasure today, gifts to us thanks  to Joe Trainer's attention to every detail. From making all the arrangements for the cemetery including military burial honors, bringing my husband's body safely to Great Falls, printing the service materials in house, online technology that allowed remote attendance for family and friends, the Memory Table with the beautiful plaque, the pristine 1951 hearse to the cemetery... .. each and every moment is a precious, treasured memory today.  Croxford Funeral Home has been there over the years across three generations of our family, and it is wonderful that in that beautiful setting there is also the latest use of modern technology to meet the needs of grieving families. Croxfords did my brothers funeral service in January of this this year. From the first day I contacted Drew until the day of the service he and his entire staff treated me and my family with the utmost respect. Saying goodbye to a loved one is a very trying time, but Croxfords went above and beyond to make sure all of our questions were answered and that we were well taken care of.

Absolutely the worst experience I've had. Wouldn't release the body for lack of payment and when we finally picked her up she was wrapped in plastic and had thick cream on her face. Blocked us from leaving comments on Facebook or rating their page. Weak business...only leaves the positive reviews. We even had to have private transport.

I highly recommend Croxford.  They were attentive and professional and provided for my family's every need.  My grandmother's funeral was beautiful, and it made saying goodbye a little easier knowing she was honored and her life was represented so well.  Drew and the staff couldn't have been more thoughtful or helpful.
