As the new librarian at the Cutler Library in Plainfield, I'm writing to invite you to come spend a little time getting to know our very own little library. One hour of shelving and maintaining the shelf order, or perhaps an hour to cover new books, or perhaps a couple of hours helping me sort through the books in the basement before the big book sale...
I'm looking for long-term, repeating volunteers for each of these once-a-month responsibilities:
Assist with processing donations, 3 hours once a month. Good handwriting is helpful.
Label and catalog refinement, 3 hours once a month. Computer skills required, will train.
Book covering, 3 hours once a month. Are you a good gift-wrapper? You're probably a great book-coverer, too!
Story Time: Coordinate the weekly story time-- line up and schedule volunteers to read, promote and collect information regarding participation, stories read, feedback. Up to 5 hours a month, or less with volunteer readers helping at Story Time.
Events promotion assistance, 3 hours once a month. Graphic arts skills, computer skills helpful.
We also need a few folks trained at the circulation desk who can fill in when I need to attend trainings, appointments, etc., during library hours. Please let me know if you're interested. It's fun! And the patrons are very nice.
