We live in Palo Alto/SF Bay Area and were looking for someone to build a steel fence/sliding gate for our "mid-century modern" Eichler home.  We had seen many glass/steel fences in Palm Springs but were unable to find someone in the Bay Area to do the job. Nobody we found seemed to understand what we tried to describe. On a whim we called the Modern Homes Store in Palm Springs and they recommended D&D Custom on Mesa Dr, Yucca Valley.  It was a little scary having a custom fence done by long distance phone and fax,  but were re-assured by how much knowledge Don of D&D has of the application we had in mind.  They drove up our powder-coated steel/lexan fence and installed it over a weekend. We are completely overjoyed w/ the result. It's much admired already by the engineers in the neighborhood. I have to give 5 stars for Don's professionalism, quality of work and attention to detail. Even before we saw the fence, Don took it on himself to re-order new panels because he was not happy w/ the quality of the first panel supplier. Don is also a general contractor and has broad knowledge of landscaping/construction/concrete as well as an artistic touch and ability to work out all the issues that come up w/ a remodeling a 1950s home. Highly recommended and am planning to use him again if we can lure him back up to Northern California - perhaps for some custom outdoor furniture work. - Pat
