Our first visit here, the Izakaya is on the second floor. We had a reservation at 6pm on Thursday, and I requested accessible seating. The host checked to see if there were open booths since the bar options were low-backed high stools. The space was nice and featured American movie posters in Japanese. There were many options for food and drinks as well as specials. We started with two cocktails that were delicious matcha for me. we ordered the lamb shanks, chashu, Kita's Nukazuke pickle plate, Futomaki special roll, Grilled Reba livers, Jyata Bata potato, Abura Miso Buta onigiri, and dessert. The food was incredible, dishes came out quickly, and definitely worth the price as everything was prepared in-house. We could have kept ordering all night. Our server was great, very attentive until it got busier around 6:45pm. The space became very packed very quickly, with people waiting by the host and blocking the stairs. I carry an air quality monitor Aranet4 and noticed that there wasn't proper ventilation went above 2000 ppm, which I mentioned to the server. There were 3 individual restrooms which were small. When I washed my hands and used the hand dryer, it smelled like it was blowing warm toilet water.
Best ramen in town! Small spot with big flavors. Unbelievably delicious broth and quality ingredients. Service was exceptional, Gabriel was quick, polite, and knowledgeable with the menu. Food was so good that I will be back again and again when I come to DC!Food: 5/5
This is an excellent ramen restaurant in DC that I highly recommend. The ramen dishes are delicious, and the noodles' texture is chewy. The broth is also quite tasty, making it the perfect meal for cold days. The restaurant is relatively small, and when my friend and I went there, all the tables were taken, so we had to sit at the bar. However, the service was still decent overall.
A small ramen restaurant located in Chinatown with a couple of booth seating, two long tables with multiple stools, and high stools surrounding the small kitchen. However, some outdoor seatings are available too. There are 8 different ramen choices on the menu, and only 3 appetizers to choose from. I ordered the shio ramen with extra noodles, shoyu ramen with extra noodles, and fried gyoza. The ramens were on my table only 5mins after I ordered. The ramens’ broths were delicious, and the ramen were cooked al-dente. The fried gyozas were ok. They tasted like they were from a big frozen packet. I would avoid coming here during peak hours as seats are limited. But the wait may be short as food is served pretty quickly. There is an automatic 3% surcharge on the bill which according to what they state in their menu, “… maintain employee benefits and keep menu prices consistent”. Also stated on their menu, the charge could be removed upon request.
Loved my visit to Izakaya! The service was great, and friendly staff made the evening delightful. The food was tasty, with a wide variety of vegetarian options that didn't compromise on flavor. The cute, cozy decor added to the charming atmosphere. Plus, they have a live DJ on Fridays, which adds to the fun. Highly recommend for a fantastic dining experience!
No reservations were available. I heard good things about this place but it was definitely disappointing. The noodles were rock hard. The service was bad too. I saw my ramen being ready and sitting at the bar because the servers were buzy. Gyoza tastes like nothing. So small and overpriced. Also I added multiple toppings to my ramen but it still seemed like it was missing few. I asked the server and she confidently told me it's good but then later she came saying they forgot? The broth was warm, not hot. 3 percent charges of the covid thing. It says if I ask they will take 3 percent off the check but how many people will actually ask? Not planning to visit here again.
I had the shoyu ramen here and it was delicious! The place is usually pretty busy during dinner but the attendant at the front made it easy to put my name on the list and the wait wasn’t bad at all. They give you a good amount of food that explains the price point. A great spot for dinner with friends!Food: 5/5
By far the worst Ramen I've ever had. The shoyu Ramen straight up just tastes like soy sauce, no complex or umami flavor. The ground pork does not add any interesting flavors, the rest of the pork was bland and tough, same for the optionally added pork belly, it was also cold. This does not represent traditional Japanese Ramen, awful. Service was nice and attentive. A tad slow considering the place wasn't busy during my visit but not a real issue.
The place was packed when we arrived, we didn’t wait tho and seated on the bar where you can see how the cook and other staffs prepare the food. They surely gave a show with how they cook and they just really nice people. Commend them on how they navigate around the busy day. The food was good, we had the shoyu ramen and spicy miso. I like more the spicy miso which has more creamy broth. While the shoyu ramen is more of soy watery based. The place interior is close to traditional Japanese restaurants and enough vibes to throw the idea and feel of being in Asia. One thing that weirded me out was the optional service fee “The 3% surcharge helps us maintain employee benefits and keep menu prices consistent. This is not a tip and can be removed upon request…” on our receipt. I understand the business can probably have a different structure but knowing that the business not only asking the customer to pay for the food and service but also for employee benefits.
Great place to grab some ramen. The noodles were great, the broth was actually very spicy for the super spicy shoyu, and it’s quick service. There’s no reservations just first come first serve. Would definitely recommend here! This place is pork broth based while their other restaurant Bantam king is chicken based broth.Food: 5/5
