One of the best Dive bars I’ve ever been too. They specialise in ketchup bottle cocktails. $28 for half a of bottle of spirits and mixer. But you get $5 back when you return the bottle. Great value beers here too. Love the hanging plants from the ceiling and faded browning walls, it’s just a fab place. Don’t miss it! And the miniature spirits bar is fantastic!! It’s cash only - ATM next door is pricey, so come prepared! The staff are really funny and friendly too!
Had a great time going to Dan’s, squeezing cocktails out of a ketchup bottle as Leonard skynyrd blasted in the background. I really appreciated the employee who purposefully placed himself in front of the women’s bathroom. That small gesture made me feel much safer. Thank you for that!!Service: 5/5
A truly unique experience. Horrifying or wonderful depending on your perspective. This is a quintessential dive bar. Squeeze bottles of booze and cheap beer. Sticky floors, cramped booths and a ceiling that looks like it's about to fall in. Worth a visit.
Racist!!!! They heard Irish accents and immediately told us we were too drunk to come in even though we had not had a single drink before coming. Typical of the Hibernophobia we see in the USA. DISGRACEFUL.Food: 1/5
I had a terrible experience here last weekend. My friend and I were really excited to check this place out and stood in line outside for several minutes to do so. While in line, we inquired to make sure we were at the right place, as Dan's is pretty nondescript. When we got to the front of the line, a couple of drunk college-age people tried to cut in front of us. When my friend reminded them that the end of the line was behind us, they became belligerent. The men at the door, rather than doing the right thing and asking them to step aside, started yelling at my friend and I, telling us it was our fault and it was "too late", meaning we wouldn't be let in. I frankly cannot believe these grown men acted this way, belittling us and telling us we were "too drunk", when we had only had one drink before this. I'm all for the rough around the edges charm of a local dive, but it seems Dan's Cafe is a little too welcoming to misogynists and frat boys for my taste. I won't be returning.
Probably the best dive bar I've ever been in! Fantastic squeeze bottles and cheap drinks, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Great place to spend a weekend night in. Will definitely be back
Dirty and Divey just like I like it. Cocktails in squirt bottles. Also cheap beers. Doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned or renovated in like 50 years. Still love the vibe.
Really? This place needs no introduction. Old school DC bar at its finest. You want fancy, go somewhere else. You want umbrella drinks, go somewhere else. You want a basic drink, good atmosphere and all the fun you can have, go to Dan's.
A really fun and unique experience. Only complaint is that we had a rude experience with both the bouncer and the bartender.
This is the most dive bar on Earth. Be warned if that isn't your thing. Great if it is. You get a squeeze ketchup bottle full of liquor for $20. Cash only. Avoid the bathrooms
