I called on a Wed to see if I could schedule an appt on Friday and before I could even finish my sentence the man who answered the phone cut me off and bluntly said "No! I am booked 2 weeks out". I asked if he could recommend someone else and all he would say was that "there are 24 locksmiths listed in the maroon directory". I explained that I didn't have a directory, that I found him online and all he did was reiterate "there are 24 locksmiths listed in the maroon directory". I thanked him for his help and hung up. He was incredibly rude. I will never call this business again! AVOID!!

Reliable. Dependable. Professional. Consistent. Courteous. Kind. Generous. These are a few words that come to mind when I think of the service I consistently receive from Dan's Lock and Key in Durango, CO. Dan has helped me out of more than one jam, and has always done it with a sincere and professional demeanor. What I appreciate most about Dan is his integrity. He knows the rules and he follows them. For example: I bought a used pickup truck with a camper shell installed and an additional flat tonneau cover, not installed. (No keys for the tonneau cover were included.) When I went to Dan's shop and asked him about getting a key made, he told me that I would need to bring the cover to his shop (evidence of ownership) in order for him to legally make me a key for it. I appreciated his clear communication, and I'm grateful that he's not simply making illicit keys for potential thieves. When I had a problem with the gas cap key on my pickup, Dan fixed my problem. When I had a problem with my motorcycle key, Dan fixed my problem. When I had a problem with my pickup topper key... well, you get the picture. Dan fixes problems. He is reliable and has always been very willing to help me. My judgment is that he's able to use clear, critical thinking to identify the problems and possible solutions. Of course, this requires that I provide him with basic information so he can get the job done. Bottom line: Dan is one of the top locksmiths in this region. Demand for his services is so high that he has to set limits on his hours (no weekends or emergency after hours services), otherwise he would never get time off. I have turned to Dan for my lock / key services for nearly a decade. I will continue to do so as long as he is in business, because he has earned my trust. Tim B. Durango, CO

I called and asked an estimate of what the auto lockout would cost, the man who answered the phone said it depends on the make of the car and where you are. I said okay one sec, let me find my address. Then the man speaking to me got immediately hateful and said, "please call someone else". Incredible douche
