The Davison Home, 109 3rd Ave. No. was built in 1897 by Frank and Florence Davison. It is the only one on the block that is in its original location. Mr. Davison was hired by Captain Wolvin and the Meyers brothers to relocate to Texas City in the late 1890’s to become the town’s first manager. He opened a grocery store, helped start the school and the Methodist Church, served on the school board and was the town’s first post master. He sold plots of land and the lumber to build the houses. He was valued as a friend and one story told about him was that he waded through deep water after the 1900 Hurricane to knock on his neighbors doors to see if they were OK. He was elected in the first city election to be the People’s Commissioner. Even today, descendents of the Davison family still reside in Texas City.
