We ate here for dinner a few weeks ago and had a great experience, so we decided to come eat here for dinner again last night and brought two new people with us, raving about the place. We ordered our food (which they were out of almost everything) that was fine we got there late and understood that. However the girl had to come out and ask us what we all ordered again. Then she brought our meals out one at a time and told us she didn't have lettuce for the burgers or mustard. I also paid extra to get a bag of chips. She came to tell me they were out and walked away. She didn't offer me my money back or try to do anything to make up for this. We started eating and all needed a napkin. We asked a worker at the bar and he said go to the bathroom and get some paper towels. After this I then went to the bar to get some water. Water was not free...at a bar. Had to pay $2 to get my "bottle of water". The bartender works extremely hard by herself we've seen every time there. We were extremely disappointed in the customer service we received ordering food and not even receiving what we ordered. We will not be coming back.

Where to begin! Party of four, excited to spend the day surrounded by beauty only to turn into a complete nightmare with a near fatality. We were told this would be a 4 to 6 hour trip, depending on how many "fun breaks" you decide to take. We put in at noon and were told if we were not back by 7:00 PM, they would send water rescue. We all laughed, thinking 5 hours would be more than sufficient for us 50 year old's. Then the nightmare began... Other than a few "rapids" to help push us along, we had virtually NO current to get us back without having to hand paddle pretty much the whole way. The wind kept blowing us backwards and we found ourselves not moving at all in many spots along the way. We were so exhausted halfway through that we would have called for help if we had a phone. We were the only folks out there other than a few on kayaks who passed us up early on. At one point, one of our group became so weak from hours of work upstream, he fell off, lost his footing and nearly drowned. One of us had to jump in and swim over to rescue him as he was screaming HELP! The only "fun breaks" we had were 10 minutes here and there to rest. We had no alcohol, we were not drinking, and there were no fun breaks, only working hard just to make it back. We even welcomed the thought of water rescue. We kept up the pace as best we could, even walking at times as that was faster and less exhausting. Now for the worst part. We came upon some folks fishing and asked them if they knew if we were getting close to the end. Thank God, just around the corner! He said it was five minutes to 7:00 PM! We had fought for 7 straight hours!! As we turned the corner, the kid left in charge waiting for us, was watching us struggle in at exactly 7:00 PM (the deadline). We even asked him if he had a boat to help us in as the water and wind kept pushing us back and our arms were so weak at this point. My husband made it in first and the kid says to him, "the manager already left but he said to tell you there is a late fee for coming in after 7". WHAT?! Do I really need to point out how absurd that was to hear at that moment? My husband was livid, as we all were once we joined the conversation. We explained our struggles, no we were not told about a late charge, and he saw us there at seven trying our best to make it to shore! My husband apologized to the young man for getting so upset as it was not his fault but the manager who left him there to deal with it. He even told us they let folks show up as late as 7:30 PM without charging them a late fee. And what about that rescue if we had needed it? Anyway, when my husband called the next day to talk to the manager about our experience and late fee, Ron told him he would have let the late fee slide if we were not so rude to the kid he left there to wait for us. Then he told my husband that the guy had to wait two hours for us to come in when he could have been home with his family?? Huh? We were told 7 but I guess he thought we should have been back by 5? We wish! My husband replied that we are business owners and does he really want to lose our business and the business of everyone we tell of our experience, over a late fee? His reply was "that's fine, does not matter to me". The extra $55 late fee that showed up on the credit card is nothing compared to the principle. Shameful to say the least. We will never be back, not that they care one bit.

This is in response to Morgan Clements response to or experience. For one thing we were not renting canoes or kayaks, we were on tubes! I am the person who almost drowned and if there is a state requirement to wear a life jacket they violated that! Not once was a life jacket even offered to any of us and yes we are over 50 years of age. This was the worst experience in all my life and I was lucky to have survived! I still have night mares and muy legs were burnt so bad that it took a month just to get past the blisters, swelling, and pain. We have gone down other rivers and have never ever had to struggle as much as we did that day and then to be charged a late fee on top of it all felt like a slap in the face. Maybe all your trips there went ok but don't you dare try to repremend my sister in law for writing the truth. I pray that you nor any of your family or friends ever have to experience what we went through that day. I know they don't control the current of the river but they could have at least listened and had some understanding to what had happened. We also were dropped off at the furthest location and had to float about a ten mile stretch of river back to their location.

I write this review to counter the one before mine, which I find highly dubious. I have floated this section of river and used this proprietor for canoe rental within the last year. The proprietor provides life vests, as required by law, with all rentals - so if you fall out and aren't wearing your vest and almost die, it is not the proprietor's fault that you chose to be a fool. Complaining about the wind blowing and the slow or fast current of the river is just plain silly, this is not the proprietor's fault - let me introduce you to Mother Nature! Additionally tons of people float this section in mere inner tubes, with no paddles, and they make it to the pull-out in plenty of time. I just can't believe you rent canoes or kayaks and then complain about having to paddle! All rivers flow faster when there has been a recent rain, and slower when there hasn't been much. When I went there I paid for a kayak and ended up in a canoe, and the proprietor chided me for not checking in earlier (there was nothing to indicate this was required) but otherwise this business was as good as any other canoe rental in Missouri.

Horrible experience for several reasons. 1. Bathrooms were filthy so we let the people at their General Store know. She said well maintenance hasnt been around yet this morning, not let me get someone to clean them up. The bathrooms were continuously closed down all weekend. 2. No hot water in the showers. 3. Absolutely no where to swim from the resort. DONT TAKE KIDS because all they want to do is play in the water and there is nowhere for them to play. It was all under construction and no one ever mentioned that when reserving a spot!!! 4. I felt staff was just trying to calm guests and honestly just disreguarded concerns/issues. They seemed annoyed by everyones concerns.
