On April 9 I had an appt for a colonoscopy. It was performed by Dr Kumar at the DCR Surgery center. As I was on the table being prepped by a nurse(?) assistant (?) she asked if I had had my blood work done. What a time to ask. I told her she had received them and so just said oh yeah. There were 2 other people in there and I had no idea who they were. Dr Kumar came in and I reminded him that I had previous colonoscopys and they were very painful. He remembered. To the horrible part I woke up screaming during the procedure and at one point was even screaming his name to stop. I was just told to breath. After surgery as the staff was processing me out and I told them how I was screaming and they laughed and said they didn’t think I would remember. Dr Kumar came in then and when I complained about the screaming and pain he just said I was just sensitive. He also said that he had given me more sedation than had to anyone in the last 2 months. This didn’t give me much assurance as I am a 75 year old female. In addition his restrooms are FILTHY. A toilet seat is broken and if you sit on it it slides to the side.

I would not recommend Dr.Kumar! 1st incident, I had a colonoscopy, without proper meds where I screamed thru the whole ordeal. While in recovery I could hear the screams from the next victim . 2nd incident, he did not have the curtsey to inform me of what he was going to do next I feel sharp pains and then he asks me"you aren't on blood thinners or anything like that" I said no while thinking he should have asked that before he cut me open and had trouble getting the bleeding to stop. 3rd incident , he improperly used the equipment to band a hemmoird to causing an anal fissure. I suffered in horrid pain for two weeks waiting for the banding that wasn't there to fall off. Since it didn't I returned to his office, he told me it was aok and it was my back (he's not qualified to make such a diagnosis) then he prescribed a cream! Now, how is a creme going to fix my back ? I finally made an appointment with a different doctor who wrote it in my file that Dr Kumar caused the anal fissure ! Take heed, avoid him at all costs!

As an adult with a disability, I would never recommend Dr. Kumar as a physician. During my appointment, he treated both myself and my mother disrespectfully and made us feel as if we were unwanted in his office. He seemed to have no knowledge whatsoever of my disability and even attempted to convince me that it would go away if given time. I was very close to walking out of the appointment after Dr. Kumar upset me so much that I started to cry in his office. No one should feel as uncomfortable in a doctor's office as I did on this evening.
