It's a hospital. Just like all hospitals, there are things that are great and things that could use improvement. There are good doctors and nurses and there are those who need to work on bedside manor. I've had some bad experiences with this hospital in the past, regarding the care of my children. However, the past couple visits I've had since then have been just fine. The nurses have been great and the doctors have been on it. In fact, one of the doctors makes it a point to call the next day just to see how you're doing. I've yet to see any other ER Dr. do that. Compared to a few years ago, I'm very pleased with the care I've received lately.

I have been a patient at DCH via the emergency room and post surgery. The ER is the most unprofessional medical setting I have ever seen. I have seen many many ERs. From speaking to you in a degrading disrespectful manner, not listening to the patient as to concerns, symptoms, etc., all the way to judging you and treating you like a drug addict if you dare to ask for pain medicine. In addition, they talk loud telling the entire ER and anyone within hearing distance, your personal business. I have been in a bed waiting for care, and I could ear the nurses speaking ill of me. There are a few good Drs. in the ER. Nurses. None. I would crawl to the next closest hospital on my hands and knees....before I ever go there again. OSHA....The Joint Commission for Hospitals....somebody....to teach these people how to take care of sick patients.

It's all about who you get. Dr. Gunderson is the best ER diagnostician I've ever met. He is fantastic. I would strongly suggest if he's not on duty, and you're not bleeding out, turn around and head for Mercy West. Last time I was in ER, the nurse practitioner was going to send me home without seeing a doctor, I asked to see Dr. Gunderson and he stopped to talk to me - I was already dressed to go home. After he talked to me, he put me straight into ICU. Good thing too. Had I gone home I would have been back later. In the future will go to Mercy West just so I can get my regular doctor in on what's going on. The other ER doctors at Dearborn are mediocre on down to hostile. One in particular is just plain rude and when I brought my wife in with a kidney stone, he rolled his eyes. I don't fill out surveys or other nonsense. Nor do I talk to managers. You all know what's wrong with the place, and what to do about it already. My complaints are not going to change a thing, but perhaps my warning here will be helpful to someone else. If Dr. Gunderson is on duty, you're good.

During an extremely serious situation, we were met with nothing but personal care and concern about the well being of the entire family. The staff from dietary to surgeons were pleasant, cheerful and personable. There is not enough words to express our appreciation for all.

Absolutely one of the worst places to get treated. I was in the emergency room yesterday on a Sunday a day they have no ultrasound staff which is a test I needed to get diagnosed so I was told to come back on Monday. Well I'm back got forced to register as a walk in and not a ER patient now there forcing me to pay 25% or not get seen. This shows there absolute true colors of money being more inportant than a person's health. NEVER EVER BRING ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT HERE EVER MARK MY WORDS.
