Dr. Demott became our new family physician after we moved here from New York City, and she has been perfect--she listens, she thinks, she offers well-explained options. Also, she will see us fast. The first time I called, I was stunned to be offered an appointment the next day. In New York, it would have been a month; any need more pressing would have brought a recommendation to go to ER. The middling "ratings" some people have given her seem to me to say as much about the expectations of Berkeley folks as about Dr. Demott and her thoughtful skills. Reading the reviews I found myself thinking, "You feel THAT's a cold office staff? Try to ask questions in an office in Brooklyn!" or "You had to wait 15 minutes? Go someplace where you count on 45 before you're even invited to fill out your forms!" All relative, I suppose, but so are "ratings," except to physicians and staffers who take them to heart. Dr. Demott is excellent--quietly assessing rather than charmingly chatty, perhaps, and dry-witty rather than jocular, but that's  style and personality, so what? She keeps us healthy. And her staff is efficient and nice, too.

I had a great appt with Dr. Demott. She was attentive and kind. She was thorough in her questions and answers and when I asked to get a cholesterol test included additional screenings she thought would be beneficial. I highly recommend her.
