TLDR: Weird service, decent food, great cocktails. I went when DMC first opened but decided I needed a refresh on this "moody" basement lounge. We had reservations for a party of four at 6:30 on a Saturday and it didn't seem too busy. The service is awful. The girls were like robots and it felt very unwelcoming. Our waitress forgot our drinks and the timing of our food was odd. Even when one of the other waitresses dropped off some of our drinks she seemed out of it or something, really weird. Onto the food. We started with the East Coast oysters. It's listed to have acqua pazza, chili oil, and chives but something about it was very vinegary and over powering. Meh. Then we got the whipped ricotta and goat cheese. The pita that this comes with is divine, everyone loved this dish. We also got the patatas bravas which were fine, could have used more crispiness. We split the lamb shank and pork chop for our mains. The meat in both dishes were amazing, tender and well seasoned. The plating makes it seem like the dishes were massive when they really weren't, it was mostly sides spread out. Since these are intended to be shared, it would've been nice if there was some creativity with the sides and they weren't all the same.
Very sexy vibe, appetizers, music, cocktails, atmosphere. The food and drinks came out a little too fast for me. It's a place where you just want to chill and take in the vibe.
Interesting place. The food was really good, the service was just OK. The issue I had was that we made reservations for dinner and we were seated at a table not much different than a end table, it was a weird height to eat off of and it was a bench seat?!? Also it was right by the restroom and kitchen entrance. It was super weird to be in a place that's dark and red and continuously be blinded by the kitchen door swinging open and fluorescent lights spilling out.
The place feels more like a lounge than a restaurant. We ordered the tomahawk ribeye. It was not only delicious but also quite a spectacle! Be aware: this place essentially turns into a nightclub around 8pm or so. They kill the lights and crank the music, so go early if you're planning to have a conversation.
The bar has cover charges on some days. We went on a Saturday night. They had a DJ that day. It just seemed like a overpriced too loud expensive cocktail bar. The decor is really good. If you don't have a reservation it's difficult to find a spot or you may have to stand at fhe bar.
Good Mediterranean style food, excellent atmosphere. Really comfortable and fun. Easy to hang out in for a while. Good date night location, music not too loud. Weak point was the drinks, great cocktail direction, not the best execution.
This place has such a cool vibe. Definitely check it out if you're on a date or want to get dressed up and go out with the girls. The food was great and the drinks were unique and tasty. The service was also really good! I will definitely be going back!
I've lived in Austin for almost three years and cant believe this was my first visit. We had a small work event and they gave us a semi-private area to socialize. Live jazz provided just the right amount of entertainment without being overpowering. The drinks were perfection, and the ambience was flawless.
Morgan, Austin, the bartender & other wait staff worked their butts off on an understaffed Friday night. We had reservations and they accommodated us in a new area. The service was slow understaffed and the manager didn’t seem to be helping out. The ambiance is awesome, great DJ, and the place is beautiful. The food was marginal, everything had cilantro but didn't mention it in the menu. Sucks if you’re not a cilantro fan. Pita is fabulous. It’s just poorly run.
Great food and drinks. Good service. Excellent atmosphere. Solid spot for date night. I definitely plan on returning.
