Love this fun course for a quick 9. It was suprisingly nice after a couple decent rain storms. The clubhouse and bathrooms were clean. Food was good. Employees were friendly and helpful. Definitely going back here.

I love this golf course for more reasons than I can count. The courses idiosyncrasies fall well below irritating and firmly root it as a locals only rite of passage. It's 9 holes making it perfect for someone who wants to air out their clubs on a weekday but not make an outing of it. It's family owned and they have poured their soul and a ton of money into the new clubhouse remodel which I have to say is more beautiful  than they "should" have to a point it almost seems out of place. Out of place even for it's own course which is partly where the 5th star went. It would appear that very little if any money has gone into upscaling the course. It's not rundown per se but after registering to play in a palatial club house it's immediately noticeable that you're playing an municipal course with an early 1980's feel.
I would like to see the marshal cart stock beers and snacks. Not a big deal but it would be a nice attention paid to the customer.
I feel bad saying my next comment but it is worth noting. I get the sense the menu has been "updated" but not the chef and to that extent probably not the kitchen appliances. 
I HAVE NO EVEDENCE OF THIS IT'S JUST A PERCEPTION. I have eaten here multiple times. Pre remodel it made sense that the food was "pub'ish". Now it feels to me like the same food on a better plate. Typing that was like telling your wife you don't like the dress she's wearing. Strangely risky. 
All in all this place is one of my favorite courses. I play here as often as I can. I learned to golf here and I'm teaching my kids to golf here too. This course for me is like a  1964 Cadillac coup de ville. Comfortable spacious, well appointed, classy even though the it's out of place of the modern era. It still demands respect for all of what it is and what it isn't. You don't know the real Walnut Creek untill you've played here.

Greens are really furry.. pretty expensive with cart price. Bar and grill is great!

Dangerous look out ladder on #8 tee box.   Daughter climbed up, sprinklers turned on randomly, spraying/pelting her, almost causing a fall.  Mentioned to front desk guy who denied it could have happened.    Told us to come back soon.  Grade F.
