Visited on a Wednesday night around 8:30 PM they close at 9 and let us order before the kitchen closed. We got plum sake, beer, vegetarian pan fried noodles, spring rolls, and veggie bao - everything was SO good! The noodles were seasoned perfectly! Service was great. Would recommend for anyone craving Chinese in New Orleans! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian pan fried noodles, spring rolls, and bao were delicious!
Absolutely loved this restaurant! They walked us through the menu and explained how the hot pots worked. All the food is fresh and made right there. We tried as many items as two people could possibly eat and we were not dissatisfied with anything. Truly exceptional food
Had the vegetable broth, spicy ... it was awesome! A really great experience. Serves 2-3 easily! Add an appetizer and drink and the bill was around $50 with a generous tip!
Surprisingly good authentic Chinese food. I ordered Xiao Long Bao which is even better than what I had before in the bay area of California. Definitely would like to come back to try more dishes.Food: 5/5
Best Bao in the French Quarter! This establishment never disappoints and the wait staff are friendly and responsive. If you haven’t dined @ Dian Xin…..What are you waiting for?
oooookay! So if you've seen my review at the original Dian Xin, you'll know that the flavors there are delissssh! Did you think this location was any different?! We're glad to announce that the flavor levels stay delicious but with a smack of In Your Face! They kept some main dishes from the original location but added a Spicy Xiao Long Bao for some kick and they introduced their version of Hot Pot! This is IMPORTANT: unlike some other hot pots, they start with a dry pot with hooked proteins & aromatics. Once you're ready, then they pour the broth into it. This maximizes flavors & allows you to enjoy different aspects. Hope this helps! See you on Instagram: @phidingthefam
Absolutely delicious and well worth the small wait to get a table. Staff was great. Wish there was a tad bit more room on the table but the food was so good that wasn't even a concern.Food: 5/5
We went here for a hot pot dinner. Don’t get me wrong, but the food was great: everything was really fresh, soup dumplings were really good, and the hot pot was delicioushad a really nice broth. It first started going downhill because they were charging for water. Apparently, they were short staffed and had to charge us for bottled water. Being short staffed isn’t my problem, and I shouldn’t have to pay for water. Second, the serving sizes could be a lot bigger. The portions were really meager. Like 2 pieces of shrimp in an order? Do better.
Fresh, flavorful food with decent service in a cozy restaurant in a nice neighborhood on Royal St - although the menu doesn’t have vegetarian options, the restaurant is willing to replace chicken and other meat dishes with tofu and veggies which suited us just fine. We ordered Vegetarian Bao, Lotus Root salad, Veggie fried rice in place of the Combo fried rice, Noodles with tofu and veggies, Kung Pao Chicken. All dishes were good with the exception of Kung Pao which was a little odd with no peanuts but the waitress said that they don’t use nuts in any of their dishes. The Boba Milk tea was ok not great!. Specifically ask for the *no msg* option if you don’t want MSG in your dishes. It is a small place with about 25-30 seats but they seemed to fit people in as they came in with little wait time. Overall a great experience and highly recommended. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best… Food - 8 Location - 9 Service - 9 Atmosphere - 9 Value - 9 Overall - 9
I went to this restaurant in order to celebrate winter solstice with my family. I ordered a dry pot with chicken and other vegetables. I chose non-spicy because my children cannot eat spicy food and there is a non-spicy option in the menu. The server also noted this in the electronic order. But when the dry pot was served, we me, my wife, my two kids all found it spicy and also can see flakes of red pepper. I told the manager this matter. To my surprise, the manager neither agreed to re-make another non spicy version, nor did she explain it to me in a hospitable manner. She kept saying that the dish does not taste spicy, even there are some red chili pepper in it. She was not willing to change that for me and I said if so, then I would rather have it removed from the order because what I ordered originally is non-spicy. Shockingly again, the manager did not want to remove it from my order and just gave me a 20% off. That is really ridiculous and it was the first time that I came across such service in the US. Then back and forth, the manager finally agreed to remove the dry pot from my order unwillingly. Moreover, I have not received any apology from the restaurant. This is not the way restaurant serve. I understand that Covid has hit hard to service industry. But it is not our customers' fault. Your menu remarkably stated that customers can choose non-spicy. Yet your dish does taste spicy and you did not acknowledge that. If you believe that we are wrong about the taste, then you'd better add a footnote saying something like we put red chili pepper in it and we do not think it tastes spicy even if you choose the non-spicy option. You are the only authentic Chinese restaurant in French Quarter area. You play a very important role in providing Chinese food and exhibiting and spreading Chinese culture. Instead, you choose to bullying customers in this way probably thinking that they are mostly tourists and will not come back again. This experience really ruined my mood for celebrating the winter solstice with my family when we are travelling in New Orleans. Until your apology and formal explanation reach out to me, I will keep telling all my friends in my network about this matter and let them decide.
