These people love books. The experience is inevitably curated, as the proprietors are dealing with limited square footage in a high rent district. You should stop by, though, to see what they do. Unusual books about interesting things! They are skewing their demographic toward children, slightly, which is likely good for them.

Independent bookstore staffed by avid readers.  Nonfiction, children's books, art and poetry, recent best sellers. Light open space.  Weekly author readings.

My favorite bookstore in the East Bay. In the Bay Area overall, it's up there with two other really good ones, City Lights and Booksmith.
