Story

The Money family has been serving up delicious breakfast and lunch to Truckee since 1994. Named after the lake across the street, Donner Lake Kitchen is known for our local-favorite huevos rancheros and for cooking up new daily specials, so guests will always be able to find something to cure their food craving. And whenever you come in for a bite, you can count on a warm welcome and upbeat customer service because that’s what’s kept regulars coming back over these past few decades.

Thank goodness I got the chance to stop by here. My family & I were on our way to Sacramento when I found this place looking for the nearest place to get breakfast and we couldn't have picked a better place. From the scenery of Donner Lake, till we walked inside we all knew it was something special.

The restaurant had a rustic charm and resembled an old ski cabin. The waitress serving us was very polite, social, and made us feel right at home. All the cutlery, cups & dishes felt like a mix of what I'd see at fancy restaurants and what I'd find in my own kitchen. I had a burger with hash browns and even though the burger was on sandwich bread, It was amazing. I think it had 1000 islands dressing or something but it went really well. The hash brown were also good. 

When my family and I reminisce on our vacation, this is one of the spots we can't seem to forget. I highly recommend for any locals in the area and anyone lucky enough to pass by Donner Lake.

Amazing food! One of my favorite breakfast spots. If it's snowing, you get half off mimosas. Cute mountain restaurant to sit back and relax by the lake.

The food was great!  I just wish the customer service was a Lil more available and friendly.  It looks like they need more help.  I watched people come and go while we waited and decided to take advantage of the first come first served at the counter.  It was an experience and I probably wouldn't return.  Loved the area!

Love eating breakfast here! Fresh cooked food the staff is awesome the owner is also busy on the floor with all its customers; she is one of the coolest people I’ve ever met. I’ll drive up from Roseville just to have breakfast 🍳 🥞  and take in some Tahoe view.
