Story

JoAnne Carson and Lois Coryell are good friends that started teaching dog training classes together in 1975. From 1975 through 1992, JoAnne and Lois rented the gymnasium at Altamont School and instructed dog training classes two nights a week. They both actively competed in AKC Obedience Competition and National Obedience Tournaments. They studied and trained with some of the great dog trainers of the time and flew to numerous dog training competitions, seminars and activities around the country. Their dog hobby has taken them to many parts of the world, including Bermuda and multiple trips to Europe. They are co-authors of two Dog Obedience Lesson Plan Training Manuals that are sold nation wide and they donated their time to re-write the Oregon 4-H Dog Training Manuals. JoAnne and Lois have enjoyed an incredible friendship and journey of training, competing, giving and attending dog training seminars, writing Dog Training Lesson Plan Training Manuals, and teaching dog training classes together. All for the love of dogs! (Note: In 2015, after 40 years of teaching training classes with JoAnne, Lois retired.)

In 1990, Steve and JoAnne Carson purchased two acres on Washburn Way. They designed and built a full-service pet care, shopping and dog training center. The facility opened in March 1992 with a 60’x100’ training building, 28 guest rooms for dogs, 10 rooms for cats, a small grooming department. The demand for quality pet care and grooming was overwhelming right from the start. In 1996 12 adjoining acres were purchased and a building expansion began.

Today Double-C is a 20,000 sq. ft.”World Class Pet Resort, Day Care, Shopping, Grooming and Dog Training Center” with 120 indoor/outdoor canine guest rooms with raised beds, 40 spacious outside exercise yards, 30 kitty condo guest rooms, a huge retail store, a grooming department with seven grooming stations, a huge outdoor agility yard, and a fully matted indoor training arena.

Double-C has an amazing team of 25 dedicated, enthusiastic pet professionals that work closely together to provide customers and their furry friends with the very best of everything! Double-C is known throughout the county as a “World Class Pet Resort and Dog Training Center” .

The building design and business model has been used by many to construct and/or remodel and operate other private pet care facilities.
