When I first went to Dr. Lemme, I was impressed with his friendliness. However, over the past two years as his patient, I have found his care very lacking. The most recent incidents happened within the last 9 months. I had experienced pain in my left knee and he ordered xrays. He had his assistant call and tell me that I had arthritis. "What does he suggest I do for the pain for to possibly reverse/slow down the progression?" I asked and the assistant said, "He didn't say." Fast forward several months and my right leg was hurting. Appointment. His response, "Well you have arthritis." What to do? Motrin. I told him he had neglected to give me full information from the previous appt. and if he had, I would have begun Motrin at the first pain and no need for a second appt. Of course, I was still charged. The other incident was a follow-up ultra-sound for pre-cancer possibility. He has never gotten back to me with the results. Needless to say, his friendliness was not enough for me to keep him as a Doctor. July 5, 2017 and an update.. Whistle Blower here... When I moved to Whidbey Island I thought that having a medical provider closer than 1 1/2 hour away would be a good thing... If you live on Whidbey, I would never recommend North Island Medical and here is why... I went to Dr. Lemme for pain in my left knee. He ordered xrays. I received a call from his "assistant" who said I had arthritis... I asked what Dr. Lemme suggested or advised. The assistance said there was nothing further he had been given to tell me. 4 months later I had pain in my right leg, different pains and when it became so painful that I could barely walk, I went back. Dr. Lemme looked in my file and said, you have arthritis. I said that I know I did in my left leg. Then he told me that it was in both legs. I told them that he had not given me that or any other information through this assistant... not even what to do. He laughed and explained that motrin was the answer. So, I decided to not pay for the second visit. I was ignored and then discounted at the clinic... so... This action has reached the Attorney General's office in Washington State. When they asked North Island Medical, the clinic replied with total lies... "Complainant was seen in our office on 12/29/2015 for left knee pain by Dr. David Lemme. At that time the provider ordered Xrays for bilate knees, strengthening exercises, continue weight bearing activities, and to follow up with him after the Xray is completed. Complainant then came back to us on 08/11/16 for right leg and knee pain was seen by Dr. David Lemme. At that time patient complained of pain in the knee, sometimes deep pain like varicose veins in the upper thigh. Pain will radiate to right ankle at times. At that time the provider ordered continue use of elastic sleeve for comfort and support, continue low impact exercise and daily ROM exercises, thyroid ultrasound ordered, consider repeat Xrays of knees if pain not improving, and follow up 2 to 4 weeks as needed for continued symptoms." Dr lemme is a great dr. He will sit and listen to me even if he's running behind and I never feel rushed or judged and he truly cares about his patients
