My father was diagnosed with cancer by Dr. Dakil, who proceeded to decide his treatment plan without discussing it with my parents at all.  He was always very terse and callous, with a horrible bedside manner; telling my father that he would certainly die within ten years, but that it didn't matter because he was already "pretty old."  Dad was just over 50.
