Every big, wholesome bite through the crisp exterior of the French baguette into the soft bread and tender chicken of the 5 Spices Banh My was well-balanced and complemented by the spicy jalapeños, vinegary carrots and daikon, creamy mayo, and mellow and earthy pâté.Food: 5/5
It's a 3.5 for me! The banh mis make lunch quick and easy but the flavor isn't fully there. I personally don't like how the banh mis are assembled because the meat is on one side and the veggies are on the other so you never really get everything together in one bite unless you have a big ole mouth haha. Let's break down the banh mi! - Bread: Soft, chewy, and has a crunch.. but I want the crumbs to get everywhere and cut the roof of my mouth ya know? Ha, I kid. - Pickled Daikon & Carrots: I never know if I'm gonna get the old stuff where it's already browning or the good stuff. It's been a mix. - Cilantro & Jalapeño: Can't really F up here right? I do wish the jalapeños were spicy though - I want it to burn! - Meat I've tried the roast pork and 5 spice chicken on separate occasions: Both are just lacking in flavor. The meat is also shredded and I'm not sure if that's intentional. Both the pork and chicken kinda tasted the same because it tastes like nothing. I seem to get too much meat juice too and that just makes my sandwiches soggy. - Pate: It's tasty and I wish there was more of this stuff but it also always seem kinda wet? Maybe because of the meat juices. Overall, this place is close to my office so it makes an easy lunch but I only go once in a long while.
I’m so sad that we’re moving! We have eaten at DragonEats literally ~100 times in the past few years. It’s always been our favorite lunch spot in SoMa. Thank you for all of the delicious meals, and I highly recommend that everyone try them out! P.S. the Pork Meatball bahn mi is a great place to start :
Great lunch spot! I got a 5 spice chicken noodle bowl that was flavorful and refreshing. Their Thai iced tea is also so good
TLDR: Great Banh mi. Expect to pay around 10$ for a sandwich. Didn’t get a chance to try the duck, but the roast pork was excellent. Didn’t have the friendliest exchange as I was picking up my food but I don’t really care as I was just grabbing my order and I write reviews about the food I taste and value I perceive, not the service I receive.
Omg thier Bahn My sandwiches are freaking DELICIOUS!!!!!!! I CAN EAT THESE EVERYDAY!!! The size is huge. The family who run this place are so sweet and super fast omg yesss win win winning!!!! The Thai ice is the bomb yum yummy yummy in my tummy
Decided to give their BBQ pork banh mi a try during lunch hour. I can see through their kitchen that everything is freshly made. There was a line, but service was quick. The slices of pork were sufficient for such a big sandwich. Everything tastes really good, bread could be a little softer.
Duck sandwich was almost perfect. Great crusty bread could have been a tad softer/fluffier on the inside, lots of cilantro yes plz, and juicy tender duck wouldn't have complained if there was a tad bit more meat. Overall, wonderfully amazing sandwich for the price plz don't raise the price. Not quuuite filling enough to be a whole meal...just FYI. Still worth 5 stars. For sure.
The pork meatball was really good. The tofu was a but under-flavored. Well made. Friendly staff
Got a roasted duck banh mi for 10 bucks and it was delicious. The owner is very nice as well and the service was quick.Food: 5/5
