Story

Dudley Park is a 24- acre park nestled in the confluence of Trail Creek and the North Oconee River, just a short walk from downtown Athens and the University of Georgia.

The park features majestic hardwoods, open fields, several picnic tables, and a grill. Parking is available on Poplar Street at Oak Street, and on MLK at First Street, directly across the street from the Chicopee Complex.

Dudley Park was dedicated in 1953 to Alonzo Gordon Dudley, who governed Athens from 1926-1935 and 1938-1939, in recognition of the importance he saw in enriching the lives of citizens through civic improvement.

The parking situation is a bit perplexing and I'm still having difficulty understanding it. Weekdays it seems parking from 5pm until close is permitted with weekend availability (not sure about UGA home games, events). There are a lot of products of industry around the perimeter of the park such as the photographed millstones. The water isn't the cleanest to look at in October but the insects aren't too worrisome. There isn't a complete path to the REM murmur bridge and signage but it's view able as to how to get there from the sidewalk near oak/occonnee.

Great trails! Perfect for walking dogs. Lots of Pokestops.

Nice place to walk along the river or take your dog for a walk. Trail constrained by river on one side and steep hill on the other opens up into a nice Greenway. Cans and bags available for dog pick up. Be aware of off-leash dogs as we've had issues with that a few times.

This is my favorite place to go running. It is one end of the greenway trail. The other end is at Sandy Creek Nature Center.
