This review is for the Dolcinea located in the Winter Village in Bryant Park. We ordered the classic churros with the Nutella dipping sauce. This was absolutely delicious. Best eaten as soon as it's cooked, which is what we did. Churros were crunchy, sweet and piping hot. No complaints except that I wished there were more. We ordered the five for $7 but should have gotten the ten pieces for $12! Churros comes in convenient cone container making it a great on the go snack. We also ordered the churros rellenos 3 for $8 which are smaller sized stuffed churros. We got ours stuffed with Boston cream, dulce de leche and Nutella. My favorite was the Nutella one. The rellenos weren't as crispy as the regular churros and much much sweeter due to the fillings. Those with a sweet tooth will love it. I thought it It badly needed hot coco or coffee to go with it to offset the sweetness. Will definitely come back to try some of their other menu items like the empanadas.
Hands down the best Churro's I've ever had. We tried the "churros rellenos", which is basically a freshly made Churro with an option of various concoctions, such as Nutella which we tried, Passion Fruit and De Leche which I believe is caramel. Being a chocolate lover, we tried the Nutella one and it was out of this world amazing. The churro is soft in the middle yet crispy on the outside, simply made to perfection. They have definitely taken Churros to new heights. Oh and btw, they are inside the Dekalb Market Hall
In 2018, we ate Churros & Chocolate at the famous Chocolatería San Ginés in Madrid, Spain. Hoping to recreate at least an inkling of that experience, we came to Dulcinea. We were sadly disappointed. Dulcinea is to San Ginés what McDonald’s is to a fine steak house. The churros were tasteless and greasy, the chocolate came in tiny little vials and was watery think: consistency of warm urine. The workers looked like they would have been happier digging ditches in a graveyard. Needless to say, this place is not recommended in the least. A donut and a cup of coffee at Dukin’ Donuts would have been a preferable culinary experience.
We tried the empanadas here. They were cold and the pastry was not cooked. Very poor. We also tried the churros, again the dough was not fully cooked, however, they were hot. Flavours were basic. Not much care taken at all in the preperation of either dish.
This is The place to satisfy your sweet tooth, their stuffed donuts are the best. Don’t miss out on their empanadas, especially mushroom ones
This review is for the holiday market location located at Bryant Park. The churros are super yummy, so check it out for a snack. The line can get long.
I will be revisiting this place as i feel there are several offerings that deserve trying. At present, ive found the churros bring to shame pretty much anything ive tried, but other things like this doughnut and lemonade, were lacking.
The sweets look and sound creative, but they aren't that inspiring. Nevertheless, it's a truly good treat to have once in a while!
Review based on Bryant park location First of all, the smoke ventilation is non existent and while you wait online you will be covered in smoke and smell like oil from the fryer. Next, I was expecting more - flavor was a bit bland and didn’t seem like they could handle the large volume of customer traffic. The Nutella sauce was nearly not enough for the massive churros and they packed it so awkwardly in the container that we dropped one on the floor while pulling another out to eat. Good at best, but nothing special.
Spent $8 on 2 donuts. I wouldn't mind spending so much if they were amazing or if I were rich, but I am not. As someone with a sweet tooth, I thought I would love the desserts, however, they were just average. I wouldn't recommend spending so much money on so little. They were regular sized too, nothing special about them other than the fact that they are expensive and in a cool and trendy area. I don't usually leave reviews on places, but I'm mad about my money. You've been warned.
