The the court doesn't take domestic violence seriously, although that depends on the judge that you encounter. The only one I felt had was Judge Sexton, although maybe that's because she's a woman. The resources available are completely inadequate for victims of domestic violence, and I realize many great men and women work in this sector, and do what they can. I respect that. I've compared it to Cook County, that has a legal center for victims that's staffed with attorneys. This is a necessity for DuPage, as financial abuse is present in 90 percent of all domestic violence cases. The protection from domestic violence is left in the hands of the judge, so that's where victims often encounter a great deal of resistance. Judges have the discretion to mandate anything, even treatment programs for perpetrators, and just getting them to agree and recognize it's domestic violence, is half the problem. Women aren't treated fairly in this courthouse. I sought an order of protection, was denied one by Judge Demling. I testified to 18 mos. of marital rape and psychological abuse, of which I know wasn't private based on public comments, as a victim of unconstitutional surveillance. My step-father took a gun to his head within days of me testifying. I couldn't attend his memorial service, because I filed an appeal as a pro se litigant in fighting for my children and rights. There was a great deal of financial abuse, that Judge Demling allowed and further contributed to in his rulings. Every time I fight back, I'm retaliated against, and ordered to pay a portion of my ex-husband's attorney's fees, despite I did my own legal work because I couldn't afford one. I was then stripped of my rights as a mother, and sole custody awarded to my perpetrator. It was then related to me my ex-husband paid a bribe, as part of a plea deal with the Westmont P.D. to avoid charges on domestic battery. It would explain the missing funds out of his pension during the divorce, of which I pointed out to Judge Demling. I've pushed for accountability and transparency with the police departments, and then I'm arrested for doing so, for emailing a police department. When I continue to protest, or distribute a flier in the community, they threaten me with a year of jail for doing so. They're more afraid of the truth being revealed about them, and how they treat women, than their interests in protecting them and their children from violence. Freedom of speech, and my right to protest, are one of the few I have remaining, and that includes speech you might find disagreeable or offensive. Just because they can't handle the truth about them, they'd rather intimidate and target innocent women, versus acknowledging the need for change and reform. Our country did not change, without ruffling a few feathers, and if every person backed down, just because a few people were insulted by their inflaming allegations, women and blacks would never have obtained the right to vote. Survivors of domestic violence are heroes, that have the strength, to not only survive what they did, but also the tenacity to take a stand against a system that failed to protect them. If you'd rather have my mental stability questioned for doing so, Judge Orel, it tells me you're more afraid of women that have a voice in this county.

I actually found my experience to be somewhat pleasant. As I've grown up through the the years, I've come to learn respect for the police and Judges of our country. To give this place a low rating is somewhat ignorant. Nobody come here because they want to be here. But if you look past your own ignorance you would see that you can benefit greatly from comming here, this place has the resources to help you change your life for the positive. I did it, and if I did it.... anybody can do it. It's important to be patient with the employees of this place as they deal with ignorant jerk all day everyday, so you can't blame them for being a bit rude. But they will help you and answer all your questions of you are kind and treat them with respect. -Joe Howard of Downers Grove-

Wish I could give zero stars. Don't believe it could be any more unprofessional. Guards are all complete assholes. No one wants to help anyone. All guards talk amongst each other while making fun of people going to court or talking about personal life. Ask how to get somewhere in court house and they act as if you asked them to give up their life for you. It disgusts me to even set foot in such a terrible building. It's no wonder they have a terrible reputation. 👎👎👎👎

The worst place I've been to. I go there to pay a ticket and I miss my court date and the lady that attends to me has the worst attitude and was in no way helpful. I hope she gets fired truly because she barely helped me and said anything all she wanted was the 35 dollars to reschedule my court date. The worst person in existence
