Story

What do you do when you’re in high school and you are trying to figure out what to do when you “grow up.” With an aptitude for science and math and a passion for pets and being independent, there was only one answer…….. go to Texas A&M and be a vet.

That is the dream that was realized by Ron & Katie Easley in 1981 when they opened the door to their animal hospital. The high school sweethearts were married while Ron attended college and Katie worked to support her guy, and now the dream belonged to both of them. After practicing in two other clinics they began the quest for their own hospital. Wanting to remain in the Texas Panhandle area, where they had grown up, a search of cities, school districts and business climates was conducted. Much thought and study and prayer went into the decision to locate on the north end of Pampa, Texas, where we have been truly blessed.
This family owned business has grown and matured over the years. What began as a mixed large and small hospital has now become an AAHA certified small animal hospital. It has been not only the family business, but also the second home for their whole family. Not only have Dr. and Mrs. Easley both been employed there, but the rest of the family have also been involved. Their three sons, Brian, Kyle and Greg were first seen playing in the shadows of mom and dad and their hospital patients. As they became able they all were active in making Easley Animal Hospital work. The boys all were expected to help by pitching in and cleaning kennels and assisting with the care of the pets left in their care. This small animal hospital is the quintessential “family practice”.
While having a family feel, Easley Animal Hospital has worked very hard to stay on the cutting edge of the veterinary profession. While conducting a remodel in 2001, the practice was updated in both facility and medical equipment to become qualified for membership in the American Animal Hospital Association. This is a group of animal hospitals that have voluntarily undergone facility inspection and education updates to try to attain professional excellence. Only the top 15% of veterinary hospitals qualify for this honor.
