East Rock Park

East Rock Park is a great getaway without having to go very far! It covers quite a large area on a ridge overlooking New Haven and Long Island Sound and includes miles of hiking trails, picnic grounds and overlooks of the city and the water from a bird's eye view. Encompassed within the boundary of the park but on the other side of the Mill River from most of the rest of the park, is the Eli Whitney Museum and a quaint and unusual old covered bridge. A lovely place to spend a few hours!

It's a national park. I think it would need more landscaping, more entertainment for kids (we couldn't find a playground for our little 4 ys old!) Signals are not good. Just a nice placed to take a picture on the top with the city back to you but nothing else. Trails for walking your dog are ok

Good place to spend time with family or friends you have to hike it up or down or both great exercise if you have a 🐕 he or she will have just as much fun.

There''s 2 big parks in New Haven, and this is the better one. The Giant Steps are a pretty good workout, and the trails that run along the river are very relaxing

The view from the summit is amazing. Take something to munch, lie down on, and a nice book on a nice sunny day and you should be all set.
