About

Join us in the exciting endeavor to grow a quality collegiate dance department in Mesquite, TX.

Story

The Eastfield College Dance Department under the direction of Professor Danielle Georgiou serves as a vital dance training center for east Dallas County. The EFC dance program features an experienced faculty dedicated to providing students the skills and training necessary to pursue a career in dance. We strive to present professional-quality classes and productions, giving students a firm foundation in dance, dance performance, choreography, and production design.

The faculty includes Lead Faculty Member Danielle Georgiou, adjunct faculty members, Kiera Amison, Claire Augustine, Yeajean Choi, Jamie Perrin, and Melissa Sanderson. Alumni of the program have gone on to be accepted into dance programs at the University of Oklahoma, University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, Sam Houston State University, University of Texas at Dallas, and the University of Texas at Arlington. Alumni have also gone on to training programs with notable national companies and to dance professionally. The Eastfield College Dance Company performs regularly on-campus, and collaborates with the Eastfield College Theatre and Visual Art Departments.

The curriculum offers a diverse selection of dance classes including: ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, body conditioning, choreography, and performance.

Students also have the opportunity to enroll in DANC 1151: Dance Performance and become a part of the Eastfield Dance Company. The Eastfield Dance Company consists of students who share a love for dancing and performing. The dancers balance their passion for the performing arts with their value for education, creating a hardworking, committed company. The Eastfield Dance Company is also committed to bringing in outside guest artists to participate in short-term residency projects with the dancers. The Company has had the pleasure of working with Whitney Boomer and Big Rig Dance Collective, Antonio Arrebola and Delilah Buitron of the Dallas Flamenco Festival, Emilie Skinner and Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet, The Danielle Georgiou Dance Group, Kiera Amison of Muscle Memory Dance Theatre, Melissa Sanderson, Meredith Knight, Sarah Matzke, Christie Nelson, Claire Augustine, Elisa De La Rosa, Yeajean Choi, Brandon Gonzalez, Jennifer Mabus, and Jasmine Morris of CholoRock Dance Collective.

In 2015, faculty member Melissa Sanderson created the Faculty Dance Concert, during which faculty members and invited professionals create and premiere original works of choreography.

Students are also given the chance to produce their own choreography. They audition work and are supervised by faculty members.

I started my second year at EFC this year. I can say with all honesty that I love this school! I love the professors and faculty, my fellow students are all great too. Easy to talk to people here. If you ever need help in a subject you can just visit the Prof. during office hrs and they'll help you. The librarians are great too! The Business Office ladies are amazing, I had a problem with my tuition money and they were happy to help. STEM division is great also. Ms. Phyllis is so kind and helpful, and the STEM Academic Dean is friendly. Oh, and can't forget the janitorial team, they are the best!!! So kind, never grumpy, and always have the place clean. >>I'm sure they appreciate a "hello" or "thank you" from time to time.

Helpful, safe, clean and affordable. I've never had a problem with anyone here. The teachers are all nice. I'm not sure why there's a lot of stigma with this school out of all the DCCCD colleges. I have friends that have transferred back here because they like this one better. Everyone is eager to help you get to the next step in your career path.

I attended this college's criminal justice training center at the age of 22 years old. It has changed my life and helped me grow as a person. Graduating from this program has been my proudest accomplishment. Thank you for the wonderful staff and Director from the Fall 2015 semester.
