Our family has done business with Eddie Bauer since 1948. It used to be an excellent company. This last transaction will truly be my LAST. I bought a shirt from them on sale for $15.00. This said shirt (was an addition to one I bought back in 2010) because it was a comfortable shirt that didn't ride up, good in hot weather, etc. I still have it, it's excellent. But the shirt I bought on sale KEPT SHRINKING. I returned it with the original invoice showing date of purchase, the cost, etc. They 'claimed' that they could not replace the shirt (though they had these shirts available online, telling me it was a summer only item), and took out 'shipping and processing charges' for me leaving me with in store credit of $10.00. The SHIRT was defective. I called them regarding the differential on the shirt I paid for and the return in store credit. NO satisfaction what I got was a $10.00 return, thank you very much ma'am and hope you enjoy your experience. I tried to call corporate on this, only to have a phone message saying they will call ME when they have the opportunity. I guess I know why they went bankrupt back a few years ago.

Customer service has gone downhill over the years. More than once, I've placed orders on items that are in stock but then never receive the item. Ordering from website does not work. Placed an order almost a month ago for item listed as "in stock". No response for a week, then recieved an email confirming order and item in stock. The next day received another email stating item backordered and would ship in two weeks. Two weeks later, no indication of shipment, customer service says that item sold out. In most stores, placing an order on an item in stock reserves that item for you. Apparently, Eddie Bauer does not do that. They take their sweet time processing online orders and, if by the time they get to yours it's out of stock, oh well. Oh well is right -- time to move on. There are plenty of other stores that can actually keep track of their stock, have better customer service, and free shipping.

I am very disgusted at how my recent transaction was processed. Used in store kiosk to make on line purchase. I used my $50 gift card, $30 friends reward and 20% coupon, final balance $5.93 which I paid with debit. My checking account was charged $85.93 and an additional $1.00? Customer service reps called this pre-authorization? why has Eddie B charged my $50 gift card and my friends reward $30 as well as $5.93 balance to my checking account. Spent over 1 hour talking to reps on hold most of the time just to hear that because item is back-ordered that is what they do. What? my gift card that I paid for and my friends rewards is deducted from my account not applied to purchase until item is shipped.. This is not reasonable. Per rep all of this will be credited once my item is shipped. So Eddie B is paid money for gift card then takes it out of your account if you use it? I will not shop Eddie B again. So disgusted at this entire transaction.

Eddie Bauer is great but over the years they've pulled away from Pendalton and clothing like that. Most of their clothes are more of the in styles.
