About Books Are Wings is a Rhode Island based non-profit organization dedicated to improving literacy by putting FREE books into the hands of children. Story Books Are Wings seeks to be a leader in providing children with FREE books needed in their homes to continue ongoing literacy efforts. America’s students are at risk for literacy issues that can be carried into adulthood. Children from low-income families, ethnic minority groups, and English- language learners are at the highest risk for lacking the fundamental tools that provide the basic building blocks for reading. Research encourages parents, teachers, and communities to continue to find ways to promote excitement about reading and motivate children to read more. At Books Are Wings Book Parties, we read stories, discuss literature, encourage children to spell their names and give away FREE books to help nurture reading skills at home, and encourage family literacy.
