About Art...Local Artists...Searcy Arts Council...Historic Benjamin Clayton Black House (1874) Story The Searcy Art Gallery is located in the Historic Benjamin Clayton Black House on the corner of East Race Ave. and Locust St. The house was completed in 1874 by Benjamin Clayton Black and his wife, Molly. Period furnishings have been carefully selected to enhance the historic setting. The Victorian house has a highly decorative veranda and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The Searcy Art Gallery hosts about six major exhibits every year featuring the works of a variety of professional and aspiring artists. The Gallery Gift Shop offers many items for sale, including hand-made jewelry and accessories, wood carvings, photographs, stationery, books and a selection of original art.
