About History of the Village and Town of Ossining, NY and nearby communities Mission The Ossining Historical Society was organized in 1931 as a non-profit organization with the following objectives: - to educate the public in the history and traditions of Ossining and vicinity - to receive and maintain a collection of books, manuscripts, pictures, historical records, relics, and other memorials bearing upon local and general history - to promote through the establishment and maintenance of a museum and allied projects, programs which bring about better understanding and appreciation of history through the collection, conservation, preservation, restoration, study and exhibition of items of historical importance.
