Story The Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon contains 210 acres of wooded, rolling hills. Winchendon is 70 miles northwest of Boston and 45 miles north of Worcester. As of June 2011, approximately 1,400 veterans and their dependents have been interred at the Winchendon Cemetery. Mission Massachusetts has state Veterans’ Memorial Cemeteries located in Agawam and in Winchendon. There is no fee for a veteran’s burial in a state veterans’ memorial cemetery.
