This matter set precedent under the civil rights law (Section 1893) as a suit against a state agency and employee. While on appeal for the third time to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals the matter settled for 6.2 million dollars. A recent recovery against a crane company product liability resulted in a verdict of $1.9 million dollars.
