About The Decatur Fire Department provides the community, emergency response from fires and medical calls, to technical rescue and hazardous material incidents. Story Fire Chief Jeff Abbott Decatur has 110 firefighters working on 3 battalions with each battalion that works a 24 hour shift. Decatur has a Fire Prevention Division that works 40 hours a week.
