About Guiding Values: Integrity, Respect, Service, Fairness, Leadership Story A municipal police department policing the fourth largest city in the State of Maine. This site is intended as a mechanism for interaction and engagement with our community. Mission The mission of the South Portland Police Department is to work cooperatively with all citizens to protect life and property, preserve peace, enforce laws and maintain civil rights through proper and responsive community based service. The intended purpose of this departmental Facebook account is to serve as a mechanism for official communications between the department and members of the public.
