About Welcome to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, a comprehensive training complex for use by all state and local public safety related units of government within the state of Georgia. Story The Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) is the state’s premier training facility for all state and local public safety related units of government including police officers, firefighters, 911 operaters, coroners, emergency management officers, rescue officers, jail officers and other emergency service personnel. Established in 1980, GPSTC has been training the public safety community longer than any other institution in Georgia. GPSTC is home to the Georgia Police Academy, the Georgia Fire Academy, Georgia’s Basic Training Division and the Instructional Services Division, which are the state’s leading providers of basic and advanced education for public safety officials. GPSTC’s training complex, which encompasses nearly 1,000 acres, includes facilities designed to give students real world skills, in addition to classroom experience while earning their state-mandated certifications. Under the leadership of Director Tim Bearden, GPSTC employs the best and brightest, relying on a network of public safety professionals from across the state. Instructors at GPSTC are the foremost authorities in their respective fields with the experience necessary to design and deliver superior training programs to a range of public safety officers—from those just beginning their career, to seasoned professionals seeking specialized and advanced instruction.
