About The Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ is the largest and oldest mainline Protestant denomination in the Commonwealth. Story The Massachusetts Conference is one of 39 regional bodies of the United Church of Christ (UCC). It is a gathering of nearly 400 churches and more than 80,000 members, making the UCC the largest Protestant denomination in the Commonwealth. Our roots go back to the Puritans and Pilgrims who founded this country, which also makes us the oldest denomination in Massachusetts. Our members, clergy and churches are in covenant with one another - a covenant that calls us to share resources, to provide leadership and to speak together as God’s children.
