About The Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, South Dakota is the world’s largest mammoth research facility where you can tour an active paleontological dig site and view Ice Age fossils exhibited as they are found. Open year round. Summer Programs: Jr. Paleo Excavation (ages 4-12) = $11.06 + tax each plus Museum Admission, four times daily June 1 - July 31 and at 11 am August 1-August 15. Advanced Paleo Excavation (ages 5 and over) = $18.43 + tax each plus Museum Admission, 4 pm daily June 1 - July 31 and 2pm daily August 1-August 15. Atlatl Throwing Experience (ages 5 and over) = $9.22 + tax each plus Museum Admission, once daily June 1 through July 31.
