About Root Animal Clinic is a full service veterinary clinic caring for both cats and dogs. Story Dr. James Root, originally from Indiana, is a 1975 graduate of Purdue University. He has been practicing small animal medicine in the Goodlettsville area for over 30 years. Even though his practice focuses solely on dogs and cats, Dr. Root enjoys spending his free time on his farm with his cows. Dr. John Ayers was raised right here in Goodlettsville. He is a graduate of Kansas State University. Dr. Ayers has post graduate training in small animal surgery and orthopedics. He is glad to be back home in Tennessee and looks forward to serving his hometown community.
