And visitor information Story The Park The Utah Field House of Natural History has been an integral part of the community of Vernal and Uintah County for nearly 70 years. The museum, established in 1948, serves the purpose of collecting, conserving and preserving, studying, interpreting, assembling and exhibiting objects (collections) of scientific and historical significance to the public for its instruction and enjoyment. The museum, with its exhibits and collections, was first located at 235 E. Main, but little room was available for expanding programs, and in 2004 the museum was moved two blocks east to 496 E. Main, in a state of the art facility. The museum showcases the regions Mesozoic dinosaurs and Eocene fossils, and is a portal for the Flaming Gorge-Uintas National and Dinosaur Diamond Scenic byways. In addition, the museum also is used as a community center for events, meetings, and some birthday parties. Our programs and collections form a marvelous partnership as each promotes and strengthens the others value. Programs are designed around the uniqueness of the collection, and collections provide the heart for the programs. The museum staff that is devoted to interpreting the natural history, brings to visitors and students alike a deeper appreciation and understanding of the specimens value.
